# Console Screens and Fields

> A screen-by-screen reference for the primary signed-in AtlaSent Console, including the meaning and safe use of its common fields.

This reference covers the 13 screens in the reduced customer workspace. Your role and enabled features may add, remove, or lock controls. When a value is blank, first confirm the organization, environment, filters, and time window.

## Dashboard

The Dashboard is an operational summary, not the authorization engine itself.

| Area | Meaning | How to use it |
| - | - | - |
| Activity cards | Counts of recent decisions, permits, holds, or related events. | Use them to spot changes, then open the underlying list for details. |
| Alerts | Conditions that may require attention, such as uncovered actions or pending work. | Open the related record before acting; a card is a summary. |
| Coverage | Whether protected actions have applicable policy coverage. | Investigate uncovered actions before moving them to enforced mode. |
| Recent activity | The newest visible authorization records. | Use record links to correlate the decision, permit, verification, and evidence. |

## Protected Actions

A Protected Action is a named class of consequential operation that must be evaluated before execution.

| Field | Meaning | Guidance |
| - | - | - |
| Name | Human-readable label. | Make it recognizable to operators and auditors. |
| Action type | Stable machine key or slug, such as `journal_entry.approve`. | Treat it as an integration contract. Avoid renaming it after callers use it. |
| Description | Optional explanation of the business operation and control objective. | State what changes if the action executes. |
| Category | Reporting group: deployment, data export, agent action, external sharing, financial, or other. | Choose the closest operational domain; category does not itself grant authority. |
| Enforcement | Rollout mode: shadow, advisory, or enforced. | Start with observation, validate behavior, then deliberately move to enforcement. |
| Authority scope | Authority family required by the action, such as deployment, override, attestation, audit access, or financial. | Select the narrowest scope that matches the action. |
| Status | Current availability or lifecycle state of the action definition. | Confirm it is active before expecting runtime evaluation. |
| Coverage | Whether an active policy applies. | No published policy coverage should be treated as deny-by-default. |

### Enforcement modes

| Mode | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Shadow | Evaluate and observe without using the result to block the underlying workflow. |
| Advisory | Return and surface the authorization result while the integration remains non-blocking. |
| Enforced | Require the configured authorization outcome and permit behavior before the protected action proceeds. |

Changing enforcement can affect production behavior. Confirm policy coverage, test the expected outcomes, and use an authorized change process.

## Decisions

Decisions are runtime evaluation records. The canonical outcomes are `allow`, `deny`, `hold`, and `escalate`.

| Field or filter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Outcome | `allow` authorizes the evaluated request; `deny` blocks it; `hold` waits for required input; `escalate` routes it for review. |
| Environment | Test or live context in which the request was evaluated. |
| Signature | Whether the decision evidence includes the expected signature state. |
| Action type | Protected Action evaluated by the request. |
| Actor ID | Person, service, workflow, or agent that proposed the action. |
| Target or resource | Exact object the actor intended to affect. |
| Reason or deny code | Human-readable explanation and, when available, stable machine-readable result code. |
| Policy or version | Policy artifact used for the result. |
| Decision ID | Stable correlation key for related permits, verifications, and evidence. |
| Time window | Date and time filter applied to the list. |

An `allow` is scoped to the exact evaluated facts. Do not reuse it for a different actor, action, target, environment, or payload.

## Permits

A permit is a bounded positive authorization artifact issued after an eligible `allow` decision.

| Field or filter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Status | Active, expired, consumed, revoked, or another lifecycle state. |
| Action class | Protected Action to which the permit is bound. |
| Actor | Actor authorized by the permit. |
| Environment | Test or live boundary for the permit. |
| Issued at | Server time when the permit was created. |
| Expires at | Last time at which the permit can remain eligible for verification. |
| Decision ID | Evaluation that produced the permit. |
| Permit ID | Stable identifier used for verification and correlation. |
| Revocation reason | Why an authorized operator invalidated the permit. |

### Token Inspector

Use the Token Inspector to decode and check a permit without treating the displayed token as a reusable secret. Confirm signature, expiry, actor, action, resource, and environment. A valid permit is still limited to its bound request and lifecycle state.

Never paste live permit tokens into documentation, tickets, or chat. Use IDs and sanitized evidence instead.

## Verification History

Verification History records checks performed at or near the execution boundary.

| Field or filter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Evidence type | Kind of verification or evidence event recorded. |
| Outcome | Result of the verification attempt, such as valid or invalid. |
| Decision ID | Authorization decision connected to the verification. |
| Permit ID | Permit that was checked. |
| Actor | Caller or execution boundary associated with the event. |
| Timestamp | Server-recorded time of the verification event. |
| Decision timeline | Grouped view showing related lifecycle events. |
| Flat log | Event-by-event chronological view. |

Verification establishes that the permit check met the verification contract at that moment. It does not, by itself, prove that the external system completed the business action.

## Holds and Approvals

Use Holds & Approvals for decisions awaiting authorized human input.

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Type | Queue item kind, such as hold, escalation, or approval request. |
| Action | Protected Action under review. |
| Requestor | Actor or user that initiated the request. |
| Status | Pending, approved, denied, resolved, expired, or another queue state. |
| Created | Time the item entered the queue. |
| Resolved | Time and identity associated with resolution, when complete. |
| Decision | Result connected to the review. |
| Reason | Policy explanation or reviewer rationale. |

Approval is an input into authorization, not the final authorization artifact. Confirm that a released request receives the expected decision and permit before execution.

## Audit Trail

Audit Trail links the records needed to reconstruct authorization activity.

| Tab or field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Evidence Log | Chronological authorization and evidence records. |
| Proof Chain | Links and integrity information used to detect alteration, omission, or reordering. |
| Governance Events | Administrative and governance changes relevant to authorization. |
| ALCOA+ mode | Review layout emphasizing attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, accurate, and related data-integrity expectations. |
| Timestamp | When the event was recorded. |
| Actor and agent | Human and automated identities connected to the event. |
| Action and target | Proposed operation and affected resource. |
| Authority basis | Organizational authority or approval basis evaluated. |
| Model or policy version | Versioned decision input associated with the record. |
| Hash and signature | Integrity and authenticity data for verification. |

Prefer the precise terms **tamper-evident**, **hash-linked**, **signed**, and **offline-verifiable** only where the exported artifact and verification procedure support those properties.

## Reports and Evidence

Reports & Evidence packages records for operational, executive, compliance, or audit review.

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Report type | The evidence or review package to generate. |
| Date range | Time boundary for included records. |
| Environment | Test, live, or all eligible activity. |
| Filters | Optional limits such as action, actor, outcome, or framework. |
| Format | Available export representation. |
| Generated at | Time the package was created. |

An export is a point-in-time representation. Retain the report ID, generation time, filters, and verification instructions with the artifact.

## Policies

Policies express deterministic rules for evaluating protected actions.

| Tab or field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Rules | Ordered authorization conditions and outcomes. |
| Constraints | Limits such as roles, amounts, environments, resources, approvals, or time windows. |
| Builder | Guided interface for assembling policy logic. |
| Simulate | Tests sample facts without making the simulation a production authorization. |
| Bundles | Versioned sets of policies prepared for runtime use. |
| Status | Draft, published, active, archived, or another lifecycle state. |
| Version | Stable revision used to reproduce and audit a decision. |

Authoring or saving a draft does not make it active at runtime. Confirm the intended bundle and version are published or provisioned according to your organization’s workflow. When no published policy covers a protected action, the safe expectation is deny-by-default.

Advanced policy configurators, developer tools, graph views, and version tools may be visible to authorized administrators. Use them only when your organization has enabled the associated workflow.

## Protected Systems

Protected Systems is the integration front door for systems whose critical actions are governed.

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| System type | Execution-system family or connector category. |
| Availability | Available, configured, disconnected, preview, or coming-soon packaging state. |
| Connection status | Current Console view of connector health or setup state. |
| Environment | Test or live integration boundary. |
| Protected actions | Action classes mapped to the system. |

A “coming soon” native connector means the packaged integration is not generally available. It does not mean the underlying action type cannot be protected through an API or custom integration.

## Users and Roles

Users & Roles controls who can access the organization and which Console capabilities they receive.

| Role | Intended access |
| - | - |
| Owner | Full organization control, including billing and high-impact settings. |
| Admin | Team, policy, and configuration administration. |
| Auditor | Read-focused access to logs, reports, and compliance evidence. |
| Operator | Operational evaluations, actions, holds, and approvals allowed by policy. |
| Member | Basic organization access. |
| Observer | View-only access to permitted surfaces. |
| Bookkeeper | Financial oversight and billing-oriented access where enabled. |
| Regulator | Controlled external audit access where enabled. |
| Demo | Limited access to designated demonstration experiences. |

Role labels are not a substitute for runtime authority. Server-side permissions and policy remain authoritative. Use least privilege and remove stale invitations or memberships promptly.

## API Keys

API keys authenticate SDK and integration calls. Treat every raw key as a secret.

| Field | Meaning | Guidance |
| - | - | - |
| Label | Human-readable purpose. | Name the system, environment, and owner. |
| Preset | Starting scope set, such as Evaluate only, Full SDK, Audit read-only, GxP clinical, SaaS Production Safeguard, or Custom. | Review the resulting scopes; a preset is a convenience, not a separate security boundary. |
| Environment | Test or live key namespace. | Use test keys for development and isolated demonstrations. |
| Scopes | API capabilities granted to the key. | Grant only the operations the integration needs. |
| Expires in days | Requested credential lifetime. | Prefer a finite lifetime and rotate before expiry. |
| IP allowlist | Optional CIDR ranges permitted to use the key. | Add stable egress ranges when your deployment supports them. |
| Created or last used | Credential lifecycle and activity metadata. | Investigate unfamiliar usage and revoke unused keys. |

The raw key is displayed once. Store it in an approved secret manager; do not put it in source code, documentation, screenshots, or support requests.

## Settings

Settings groups personal, organization, access, security, credential, and commercial configuration.

| Tab | Common fields and meaning |
| - | - |
| Profile | Your name, contact information, and personal preferences. |
| Alert Rules | Which authorization conditions create alerts and where they are delivered. |
| Organization | Organization name, billing email, industry, compliance frameworks, stable slug or ID, session timeout, and failure posture. |
| Team | Members, invitations, and membership status. |
| Roles | Role assignments and permitted capabilities. |
| Security | MFA, sessions, and related identity controls. |
| API Keys | Credential creation, scope, rotation, and revocation. |
| Billing | Plan, billing contact, and subscription information. |

### Failure posture

| Value | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Closed | If authorization cannot be completed, the protected action does not proceed. Recommended for real control enforcement. |
| Open | The integration may proceed during an authorization failure. Use only with an explicitly accepted risk decision. |
| Audit only | Record or observe without blocking, when supported by the integration. |

Organization slug and ID are stable integration identifiers. Change them only through a supported migration process. Advanced settings such as SSO, mTLS, data boundaries, overrides, routing, risk, schedules, alerts, or integrations appear only when enabled and authorized.

## Troubleshooting empty or missing data

1. Confirm you are in the intended organization.
2. Confirm the environment and time filters.
3. Clear optional search and status filters.
4. Check whether your role includes the required permission.
5. Confirm the feature is included in the organization’s plan and enabled.
6. Follow the record IDs across Decisions, Permits, Verification History, and Audit Trail.
7. If a field still appears inconsistent, preserve the record ID and timestamp when contacting support; never include a raw API key or permit token.
