GitHub App vs. webhook-only
If you only need to receive events from GitHub (for example, to trigger an evaluation when code is pushed), the webhook approach is sufficient. If you want AtlaSent to show a status check on each PR and optionally block merge until the check passes, install the GitHub App.
How Check Runs work
Check Runs appear in the Checks tab of the PR and in the merge status section at the bottom of the Conversation tab.
Installing the GitHub App
Step 1: Open the GitHub integration page
In the AtlaSent Console, navigate to Integrations → GitHub (/integrations/github).
Step 2: Click “Install GitHub App”
Click the Install GitHub App button. You are redirected to GitHub to authorize the installation.Step 3: Select repositories
On the GitHub authorization page, choose:- All repositories in the selected organization, or
- Only select repositories — pick the specific repos where AtlaSent should create Check Runs.
Step 4: OAuth callback completes automatically
GitHub redirects back to the AtlaSent Console, which completes the installation and associates it with your org. You should see a confirmation message and the connected GitHub organization listed on the integrations page. No further configuration is required. AtlaSent begins creating Check Runs on new PRs immediately.Blocking merge via branch protection
To require the AtlaSent check before merge:- In GitHub, go to the repository → Settings → Branches → Branch protection rules.
- Add or edit the rule for your target branch (e.g.,
main). - Enable Require status checks to pass before merging.
- In the search box, type
AtlaSentand select the AtlaSent check (namedAtlaSent: <action class name>). - Save the rule.
Uninstalling the GitHub App
- In the AtlaSent Console, navigate to Integrations → GitHub.
- Click … → Uninstall next to the connected organization.
- Confirm the dialog.
